IPSL-CM-LAM

IPSL-CM-LAM : the Limited Area Model version of IPSL-CM

IPSLCM-LAM is the limited-area configuration of the IPSL-CM model, officially available since 2024. It enables the model to be run in regional configurations, allowing assessment of the behavior and performance of IPSL-CM at regional scales. It also opens new avenues for process-oriented studies at high resolution and relatively low computational cost, as well as for climate impact investigations. This configuration has been made possible by the ability of the DYNAMICO atmospheric fluid solver to operate on individual elementary “tiles.”

Currently, the configuration supports coupling between atmospheric dynamics and physics (DYNAMICO + LMDZ), continental surfaces (ORCHIDEE), and atmospheric chemistry (INCA). Coupling with ocean and sea-ice components is a promising avenue for further development.
